Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Charity Dean, 40, of Santa Barbara, has been appointed assistant director at the California Department of Public Health. Dean has been public health officer at the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department since 2014, where she served as a deputy public health officer from 2011 to 2014. She was a resident physician in internal medicine at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital from 2008 to 2011. Dean has been a commissioner at the Santa Barbara County First 5 Commission and a fellow at the California Health Care Foundation since 2017. She is a Ford Family Foundation Ford scholar and a member of the California Conference of Local Health Officers, California Tuberculosis Controllers Association, California Association of Communicable Disease Controllers, Central Coast Medical Association and California Medical Association. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $200,004. Dean is a Democrat.

Dan Robbins, 51, of Calabasas, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Uniform State Laws, where he has served since 2007. Robbins has been senior vice president and associate general counsel at the Motion Picture Association of America since 2008, where he has held several positions since 1996, including vice president, technology counsel and domestic counsel. He was an attorney at Graham and James LLP from 1992 to 1996 and at Pepper, Hamilton LLP in 1992. Robbins is chair of the national Uniform Law Commission Scope and Program Committee. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Robbins is a Democrat.

Rosalind Wyman, 87, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission. Wyman has been president of the James A. Doolittle Foundation since 1997. She was the youngest person ever elected to the Los Angeles City Council, where she served from 1953 to 1965. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Music Center of Los Angeles Board of Directors and the Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wyman is a Democrat.
